Later Bishop Gambara transformed the Barco into a vast Italian-styled park with fountains and a palace with frescoes by Tempesta and Raffaellino Reggio. Cardinal Montalto, who succeded Gambara, ordered a second Palace, frescoed by Tassiand Cavalier d'Arpino.
